Message from our MPCUG President

For those of you that weren’t at the October General meeting, I made an announcement that at the end of 2012 Manatee PC Users Group will be dissolved. After considerable thought this date has been changed (pending a vote by the Board) to May 31st, 2012. What is happening today is the people that are of the age to take part in the club have worked on computers their entire career, and no longer feel the need for a Users Group. Look at our Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren, most of them are adept at using the computer. They have outgrown us.

I hope all of you understand why we did this. The purpose of forming MPCUG in 1990 was to create an environment where members could help each other learn about using that “Newfangled” computer. Through the years MPCUG has become more of a “Teacher and Student” club, and the “Teachers” are becoming “burned out”. MPCUG will stop taking new members after January 1, 2012, and all the Members as of that time will have renewal dues pro-rated through May. Thank you all for your support.

If you would like to continue with a computer club Ana from H2U is going to start one up, and you can contact her directly at: Ana.Guillermo@HCAhealthcare.com.

Lyla Palmieri

NOTE: The executive board has agreed to change the final date from December to May 2012.

MEMBERSHIP PARTNERSHIP WITH H2U

We have partnered with Blake Hospital’s H2U program and can use their facility for our classes and SIGs. H2U, formally know as Senior Friends, is a program backed by Blake Hospital. H2U offers it’s members a meeting place for lots of social activities, and also offers many special features if you need to use Blake Hospital. Check the H2U calendar.

The partnership allows us to use the facilities at Bayshore Gardens Center at 6049 26th Street West for our classes and SIGs on Mondays and Fridays. In return for using their facilities they require that we all become members of H2U.

If you need more information about this part, ask at the sign in desk at the general meeting or at a H2U center.

We are very very pleased with this partnership; and feel it is a great benefit to members of both clubs. We hope you will check it out, and enjoy your new H2U membership.
